Profile of the Art of loving
How is the relation between a lover and a beloved?*
A lover seeks only his beloved. He only wants her, worships her and sees nothing but her. He desires what his beloved desires. A lover is devoid of any selfishness, conceit or self-veneration. He is not even aware of himself. The object of a lover's egoism is his beloved indeed. He is always concerned about his beloved and pays attention to her under any circumstances. A lover is never forgetful of his beloved; he always calls her, praises her and is grateful to her. A lover is submitted to his beloved. Every bit of his being, his body, mind and soul, long for her and is in contact with her.
A lover thinks about ways to join his beloved and to get closer to her; he thinks of her. A lover controls himself, his aspirations and desires in order to avoid committing anything displeasing her.
* Regarding this section, Master Ram Allah had said, ''In this section I had stated the principles of transcendental life.''
A lover holds dear and respects whatever is related to his beloved.
The beloved is the law of a lover's life. He serves his beloved in every possible way and by every possible means. He is constantly conscious of his duties and obligations towards her and acts accordingly.
A lover believes and feels confident about his beloved; he never doubts her. A lover can even perceive his beloved within himself; he carries her in his soul for the beloved fills the soul and the entire existence of a lover.
The beloved is the essence of a lover.
In the depth of his consciousness, a lover never thinks alone nor talks to himself; he thinks and keeps an inner conversation with his beloved.
A lover seeks, smells, desires and sees his beloved in every existence. For him, everything is his beloved, including his own being. He sees in oneness and likeness.
A lover is ailing; he suffers from love. He transfers his contagious illness to whomever he comes across. He has found out that the beloved is the best and nicest of all and tries to get others out of their ignorance and make them understand this as well. This is how he tries to spread love to everyone.
A lover tries to tell the whole world that his beloved is the best, the most lovable, the greatest, the unique goal and the only desirable one.
A lover longs to know about his beloved's mysterious and unknown features; and he eagerly tries to find out about the realities of her life.
He cherishes whatever his beloved cares for and disdains whatever she dislikes. He is willing to renounce everything and every attachment for her.
A lover tries to expand and deepen his relation with his beloved. In her presence, he tries to act the best and most complete way he can. His attention increases constantly...
A lover has his eyes on the beloved; he stares at her and is captivated by her with every bit of his being. The beloved is present at each and every moment of his life.
A lover fears nothing but being separated from his beloved. He fears solitude and his beloved's departure; otherwise he is the most courageous person on earth. He trusts in his beloved and lives in hope of uniting with her.
A lover desires only and uniquely his beloved and no one but her. This exclusive unity of the object of desire is the mystery of love otherwise he shall not be a lover anymore but an immoral person committing debauchery. Debauchery shall never lead to union, unity, and bliss; but a treacherous lover shall face pain and torment wherever he turns.
A lover is enwrapped with the presence of his beloved; he sleeps, breathes, moves, falls sick and dies with her presence.
A lover serves sincerely his beloved, without any hypocrisy or expectation. His intention and goal, thought, words and acts, friendship and animosity, satisfaction and contentment reside uniquely in his beloved.
A lover is faithful, more loyal than any other devoted person. His loyalty can be compared to the loyalty of heat to fire. There are absolutely no betrayal, duality or disunion in him. Disunion does not penetrate his being, like darkness that cannot penetrate into light. He has an unspoken engagement towards his beloved and nothing in the whole world can ever break his promise.
The resting place of a lover is the remembrance of his beloved. His joy depends on her satisfaction and his fervor lies in her bosom.
When a lover has to endure separation, he cries; he suffers from nostalgia and distress. He yearns; he is inflamed and burns. He sighs in his soul; every bit of his being longs for his beloved and calls her for he is fascinated, infatuated and seized by her.
And finally, a lover shall disappear in his beloved's being. However, death has no hold on her; therefore, a lover shall be born in his beloved and shall become one with her. She shall reveal herself in the lover and the lover shall realize that she and he have always been one and the true lover was none but the very beloved. Thus love, lover and beloved become one, for they were one and they shall remain one.
Live this way in the Divine Presence; and you shall be delivered.
